Benadir Governor, Thabit Abdi, has said his administration is working on a comprehensive plan to revive and rehabilitate the historical monuments and parks in the city in order to provide more recreational facilities to the people.
He said this while speaking at the opening ceremony of Ahmed Gurei Monument at KM4 Roundabout on Wednesday evening. This is the second monument that has been rehabilitated since May 2017.
The governor appreciated the concept of renovation of parks and monuments in such a beautiful way and observed that the project will be the first of a number of its kind and others will follow.
Mr Abdi said that the Benadir Regional Administration would fully cooperate the federal government and the people of Mogadishu for the revival and rehabilitation of monuments and all others recreational facilities, which are in dilapidated condition.
“This facility does not host a historical monument, but also is a strategic roundabout that connects a number of districts and leads to the airport. We will keep this momentum to turn this city a beautiful city as it once was,” the governor said.
